I understand the title (quite clever) but some might not and the image doesn't really visually convey family. The highlights are majorly blown as well. I actually don't hate it as it does have a certain emotive 'something' to it, this will probably do quite well with the posthumous arty crowd but I can't see it ranking very high generally.

If I looked at this image... outside of the challenge topic... and was asked to give 100 descriptions of the image, I don't think "family" would be one of them.

I DO like the image... just not for the topic. I fear that you've failed to portray "family" ... especially without the title.

The reason I didn't vote higher on this image is due to the following things I noticed:

1. image grain is too much
2. location of subject is odd
3. background is busy
4. colors seem off
5. low details

Suberb emotion in a DPC imperfect image. The overall tone, as well as the background, drive the viewer to sadness even before experiencing her face. Fairly well constructed even though I would have cleaned up the face and the bottom right corner. Cheers.

Is it my imagination or is she really short? I love the way you used the noise in this - especially on her face as it looks almost like brush strokes.
