West Forkby cowtownmomComment by Luci11e: Again, I can't be of much help as black and white landscape just blew my mind. When I shot for this I had to keep telling myself - black and white used to be all you could shoot in and folks back when did some stunning work. I do however see that I gave you a 4 on this and that is the lowest I will score anyone.
What I'm seeing is very blown out clouds. I think maybe you shot this around noon? (or noonish) That's a really hard time to shoot cause the sun is so harsh at that time of day. And mostly that's where my eyes land when I look at this image so I really don't see the rest of it. I took a piece of paper and "cropped" out about 3/4 of the sky and that really, (imho) helped the image alot. I think it toned it down and gave it more contrast.
Anyway, I hope this helps. Now GO BEAT SPIFF! |

Momma and Meby cowtownmomComment by Luci11e: I can't really give any suggestions here as I gave it a 9. I have read through what others have written and what I see mostly is folks think it's overprocessed. So that explains some things for me....folks here don't like overprocessed; but I do and I have to be really careful when I'm preparing photos as entries here cause I tend to overprocess. What I do is process a photo two ways....the way I like it; then go back and do one that I think is acceptable for DPC. Then I enter what I like and as true to form if I enter what I like I get blasted. And usually they are right so that has helped me alot.
Although for this pic, I really don't see what they are talking about as this photo looks very true to me, I've walked into lots of fields to catch lots of horses at many different times of day and I think this is an excellent shot. |

Teamwork, Volleyball Styleby cowtownmomComment by Luci11e: I gave it a 5 and I see lots of others did as well. I believe its because in this challenge folks were looking for action shots, but of course it didn't fit in with sports without players either ;-)
For me the girl in the front whose eyes look half closed was a real distraction. Might have done better had they all been looking at the hands as if they were getting ready to break and go into the game. I've learned here at DPC you gotta be really careful about stuff like that. Course it hasn't stopped me from entereing such things.
Now - GO GET 'IM! BEAT STEVE! |

Teamwork, Volleyball Styleby cowtownmomComment by h2: No real action, some motion blur in hands and faces, blown highlights, distracting background - must be the camera, why the background is not OOF at f/2.7 |
