Glossy Ibisby EnlightenedComment by hahn23: I like your photo. Love that curved beak... very functional. We do have white-faced ibis flocks fly through Colorado on migration. I've never seen a Glossy Ibis. Although some birders tell me there are hybrids which travel along with the white-faced. |

Brown Pelicanby EnlightenedComment by hahn23: Excellent fly over shot. I have seen them on the Atlantic coast (Sanibel Island). They would be a rare sighting in Colorado. |

Sanderlingby EnlightenedComment by hahn23: Very nice. On migration, this species could theorectically fly through my area. I'll keep an eye out. |

Red Bellied Woodpeckersby EnlightenedComment by hahn23: You are so right! Faint wash of red on belly rarely visible, but bright red nape always conspicuous. I've never seen one. Your image is very good of the pair, with the female on our left. |

Cattle Egret - South Floridaby EnlightenedComment by hahn23: When I think of a Great Egret, I sort of expect a bird with a very long neck. And, even a juvenile Great Egret would have blackish legs and feet.
You may certainly be correct and I am not an expert in egrets.
However, your image reminds me of a Cattle Egret, Bubulcus ibis. It's those pale orange patches and stocky neck and short yellow bill which lead me to this opinion. |
