The Raft of Halloween by gyabanComment by SJCarter: How you manage to recreate images in a fresh new perspective and create new ones on your own is not only a talent, but a gift. You never cease to amaze me. Thank you for sharing your gift with the world. I (among many) am grateful for your ability and generous nature. Message edited by author 2015-11-15 10:33:17. |

Sally, thank you so much for you very kind comment, much appreciated!
In fact DPC (and photography in general) is a rather small part of my life, it is just a hobby, that adds some fun on top of an already very full calendar. It is one of the reasons I don't enter many challenges: I can pick one week from time to time during which I don't sleep much, but I wouldn't be able to do it permanently. Regarding my images, I upload them to several websites (the usual ones: 1X, Flickr, Deviantart, 500px, and my own), and sometimes enter other challenges with them, but I didn't create any book so far (even if my stuff has been included in several ones). Regarding your other questions, I took 1545 photos for this project, but it isn't very relevant: most are small variations of the same thing, so that I can cherry pick the best ones for each part (for example, 672 alone have been taken during my trip at the sea, because I wanted to be sure to have the appropriate waves pictures, but only 13 were actually used). As for the models, yes, they have been very kind to accept posing for this! However, I'll probably won't ask them to do it very often, because I also like to create images with more personal concepts, and I would be uncomfortable dragging someone else into them. Thanks again! |

Excellent work and amazing ideas but I do have to ask you do you have a life outside DPC?you put so much work into a single image
What do you do with these images do you keep them all or just move on to the next project - have you a book or display them in some way
How many images did you take to produce this you say you uploaded 62 original images but how many did you actually take
It is great that you can visualise and create you also have many people to pose for you and no doubt excellent photographic equipment
But you are such a genius when it comes to editing I love the sea in this What more can I say

The Raft of Halloween by gyabanComment by gyaban: Originally posted by tvsometime: Congrats as usual. Just wondering how much time was spent on this project. |
Thanks a lot. Regarding the time involved:
- A first shooting session at work took about 2h
- Then I had to drive to the sea to shoot some waves, took about 5h
- I had to pose for various characters and shoot various items, took about 3h
- We had to create the raft and shoot it, about 2h
- Processing, about 1h per character (18 of them), 3 hours on the sea, 2 hours of general editing
Total = about 35 hours of work, and 62 original photos to upload (1.33Gb, sigh). |
