I think that the site cuncil shouold consider to remove you from particpating challenges you can't be challenged..:) |
Thanks a lot! I decided to not enter that much this year, only cherry picking the challenges that inspire me. This way, I can afford to spend more time than before on a single image.

The Artist by gyabanComment by tome: Great result, this was one of my three 10s and it was an obvious winner.
Nitpicking - I thought it would resemble the original a lot more with harsher tones. But, since you cannot match Dejardin's poker face anyway, let's forget the original - this is a beautiful, well balanced b&w with some super-precise lighting I've only seen on pictures by the pros here. Amazing!
Btw I bet this is a serious competition to your wedding photos ;). |

2001: Art's Space Odyssey by gyabanComment by tome: Not fair, this was supposed to be no.1 in your profile... you seem immune to the Art curse.
Another great movie poster, Christophe! The Artbaby looks mean :). |

Do you just like doing things the hard way? :P |
I believe I had no choice there: if there was some visible bright skin next to the earring, it would have been against the rules to make it completely disappear. |

Can you briefly explain how you made those stars? They are very realistic! |
Thanks a lot!
The stars were essentially made out of noise:
- created a layer, filled with black
- added noise (about 10%, monochromatic)
- played with levels until most of the dots were gone
- duplicated the layer a couple of times: the copy were re-sized randomly (to create differently sized stars)
- then I painted randomly black on these layers masks, to create areas with less stars
- I also used the cloning tool to even obtain a higher density of stars at some locations
- Dodged the high density locations, to make them brighter
- Painted some dark blue "clouds" for a "spacey" effect Message edited by author 2012-03-09 02:16:21. |
