Three Cherries on Topby giantmikeComment by Skip: This is a tough challenge to vote. I'm torn between "what are you trying to do here" and "what do I expect here". Further complicating matters is the question "what would I do here".
What I would expect would be a technically strong piece of eye-candy that would present the dessert in a way that I would want to at least sample it, if not order it. Along these lines I'm looking at technicals: backgrounds, distracting elements, exposure, sharpness. I'm also looking for creativity, imagination, and originality, which can make up for less than perfect technicals.
So, where does this leave me with your image?
This could have been killer, for me anyways, but is ultimately robbed by the background distraction. It could use a little more balance between the lack of details in the shadows and the blown highlights, but not much. |

Data Lossby giantmikeComment by nam: This feels very technology somehow - probably because I don't have the foggiest what I'm looking at. Love the tones, the glow, the smoothness in combination with the textures of that circular area. Voted earlier. |

Sun on the Dockby giantmikeComment by MaryO: Love the composition and the quirky chair on the dock. I think the horizon may be slightly askew. The dock is more likely to be tilted than the horizon in reality. |

Data Lossby giantmikeComment by Cory: water drops are awesome looking. But... This isn't water drops. So.. What do I see... Honestly? I'm left wondering if you wanted to try the water drop thing and just failed at it? Sorry to say, but the concept could have been expressed in so many ways, why this mess of partially evaporated water.
But then wait! I look at this more and notice that the "water" seems to be alcohol that is burning.. Ok.. Kinda cool... And I like the orange coloration of the image too... But.. Yeah, sorry, but... I still just don't love the image! My sincerest apologies. But it does make me want to see this done with droplets of burning liquid - just have to be darn short between lighting and shooting. |

Sun on the Dockby giantmikeComment by Lydia: I wish the chair's top were centered perfectly... to make this perfect.
I love the unexpectedness of it being there! And the pop of yellow! Well done.
