WCMS vs Coffee Co130.jpgby Luci11eComment by danhass: I agree with Matt as far as placement on the field goes, especially when there aren't names on the back of the jerseys. But having a runner coming toward you would be easier to keep in the frame and in focus with AI Servo than one running laterally across your field of view. A more interesting picture, too, I think. More dramatic with a face and a grimace. Plus that's what editors want to see in any sport...faces and pucks, faces and balls, faces and whatever they're playing with.
You stopped the action real well and the color is good and the timing is great. Just a different perspective would make it a really nice, dramatic, effective sports shot. Keep shooting! |

WCMS vs Coffee Co130.jpgby Luci11eComment by MattO: My critiques and suggestions on this image are two fold. This would not be an image I would submit to the paper, unless it was a key play in the game, IE winning touchdown or interception. And the reason is all I see is his back.
My suggestion is for your placement to be changed. When I get down to that end of the field when the offensive team is at the 35 or 30 yard line(this will vary for each photographer depending on how long or short of a lens you are shooting with) I position myself in the end zone about the middle so I can shoot either side and get the players coming at me with a greater possibility of getting the face. Your timing is pretty good though. |

Hopeby Luci11eComment by Marston: Main Focus should be on the toy and not the book and I think that the backgound is too distracting. |

Fancy Shawlby Luci11eComment by MelonMusketeer: This is a very nice shot. If you use aperture priority and wide aperture aka f2 or 2.8 for this sort of stuff, the background will blur out and put your subject right out front in the image. |
