paphs are my absolute favorite! i have 3 really incredible ones myself and a nice phrag too. once they come into bloom again you can bet i will share them here with you!

the color and detail are excellent on the flower. i think a little more blur on the background would work, but that's only nitpicking. too bad you didn't catch it earlier when the 'slipper' was healthy. 8

This looks very exotic. The purple sac looks as if it might catch flies, if all else failed. It's a good picturre, although the diagonal brickwork is a bit off-putting

Here I was thinking that I was tired of closeups of flowers, only to have you prove me wrong. Very interesting crop, unique choice in DOF which works very well, and very good color choice. Add in the interest from the insects, and this really works well. I hope you score very highly.

The flower is very interesteing thought I think both it and the background could have used a little boost in saturation. Really like the patterns of the background but they might have been less defined as your composition of the flower, which I like, leaves me a bit disoriented when I look past it.

Good clarity and detail on this where it counts. If you could have cloned out that bit of triangle below the flower it would have been even better. Still well worthy of an 8.

You've selected a great speciment and really did a fine job placing it in your frame. Border is nicely done. The background is the only detraction I can see - it's so busy that your main subject isn't as isolated from it -- the stick/stem on the left going through your composition couldn't be avoided, I'm sure, but that does detract a bit.
