Excellent rendering in B&W. The "look of determination" is superb. Would work better with some of the right side cropped off.

I wonder what this was like in color. While I like it this way I miss the yellow of his beak and eyes. I also wonder how he would have looked in a vertical photo. All this said I still think this is a fine image and I rate it a 7.

Beautiful bird, and nice use of B&W. The subject could have been shot at a different angle or off center to add some spice to the composition.

Good luck.

Brave move going with b&w...I really like how it sets off the head...and the highlights on the body. Excellent image.

Great shot, maybe a slightly different crop would work even better, a little of the righthand side maybe...

Is that East Bernard or Saint Bernard? : )

Really nice, with both the funny cloud and well-defined sun rays -- I've been working on capturing those.

I also got a recent shot of a dog-shaped cloud, but I think mine looks more like a Schnauzer.

I like this a lot. What a fabulous scene. The greyscale gives it extra apeal in my view. The composition culd have been a little better I think. The postion of the sailboat directly above the parasol? Might have been better to one side. One other thing is that the horizon is not quite level, it slopes slightly down to the right. With this type of shot it must be absolutely level. But well done for capturing it.

Nice detail on the feathers. It might have been better with a little fill flash, as it looks like you nailed the expression on the seagull perfectly.
