Asian Small-clawed Ottersby BeefnCheezComment by marco: I don't know what they're called in English, but these animals allways make me smile :) My only comment is about the composition: it's a bit messy and there is no real point of interest to draw the viewers attention to. The head of the one on the foreground left could be the point of interest, but it's a bit lost in the 'crowd'. Also there isn't any other animal whos face or other interesting characteristics are prominent. I don't know if you had the possibility on location, but sometimes it's rewarding to try lots of different point of views. and above all, with this kind of photography: patience, patience, patience..... (also not one of my best quality's ;-). 6 |

Twisted Twist Tiesby BeefnCheezComment by Melethia: Meets the challenge, but is somewhat unappealing. When doing a setup shot, clean the objects to keep them free of unwanted distractions. You can also, in basic, clone or heal dust spots. |

I like this shot in theory. It could use some more editing though. Advanced would be better to get rid of that yellowish thing in the foreground but as that wasn't the case it could still use some sensor dust removal, more contrast and whiter whites.

Forever Differentby BeefnCheezComment by salmiakki: Greetings from the Critique Club
I quite like the idea of this but think the execution lets this down. Having browsed others comments, I think there is some good advice.
The composition as Ericwoo says, is a bit too tight. A bit more space around the hands would have helped a lot. Good choice to use the black background. I also agree that the white balance is off on this and a more natural skin colour could have been achieved with some simple editing in Photoshop (or whichever tool you use).
Being a bit picky here, but a manicure may have been a good idea before taking a hand shot, it would have made the image more pleasing to looking at. I don't mean full women's type manicure with polish and all that, just a tidy up of the finger nails.
With some change to set up and some better editing you could probably have increased the score a bit. I doubt however, that this was ever going to be a ribbon winner as it really is lacking the DPC wow factor. |

Farm Houseby BeefnCheezComment by JulietNN: Hi from the Critique Club
You asked for a comment from a Critique Club member.
Fun shot here, I am not sure i am seeing the HDR in this image. Reading your notes also seem to confirm this. HDR is usually 2 or more shots that are blended together. BUT in saying that, the old fashioned way was using your exposure , highlights shadows, contrasts and I think you may have gone this way. As I am pretty sure that shooting from a speeding car would be hard to get 2 or more shots the same!
You have amazing sharpness here, the clarity is spot on. The cyans do seem just a tad cyan. Your POV is fair, I think if you had cropped up to the fence and had the sky as the main focal point this would have scored a little higher. Your DOF is excellent with everything in focus.
Nice shot and I hope you had a nice holiday!

Farm Houseby BeefnCheezComment by hahn23: Moving animals are tough subjects for HDR multiple image blending, if that's what this is. Lots of sky, distant meadow and subject farm house. |
