New Horizonsby silverleafComment by cghubbell: The cropping is excellent, and the background is interesteing - having the colors in it compliments the monochromatic subject nicely. I'd like to see more sharpness in the foreground to bring out the intricate detail in it. |

New Horizonsby silverleafComment by magnus: Good idea and the contrast between the white subject and colored background works great. But maybe a deeper DOF (including the closest parts) would have been better? In any case, I would have edited out that distracting dark speck on the left of the flower. |

New Horizonsby silverleafComment by e301: I've been working on photographing these things myself recently, and have never yet found the 'full cloud' effect very promising as a photo (and I'm afraid you haven't chaged my mind). I'm certain there is some interest to be found there, but still it remains a mystery - I think perhaps those spines of the seeds are too fine to really show any shape through light, and that doesn't make promising territory for photography. I do like tthe DOF here though, and there is a certain near-abstract quality to that 'cloud' that is quite pleasant. All the intersting shots I've seen have involved heads with at least half of the seeds removed - I can recommend trying that approach. |

Topographyby silverleafComment by unknowndeath: I dont know if you are using the new photoshop but maybe use the shadow/highlight feature on your image here and I bet you get some finer details out of it. Maybe also having come closer to your subject to get more of the texture so the lines are more defined. A little more contrast after the shadow/high light option make the color more powerful in one way or another or some extra saturation. |

New Horizonsby silverleafComment by mcrochip: Ahh, ahh, choo! After you say 'gesundheit', you'll see that I like this pic... macro shots of seasonal items come off pretty well, and this is done very nicely. |
