Day Dreamer by MrsKroComment by MrsKro: Thanks John! And thanks to everyone who voted and made comments. I learned a lot about paying attention to my background and not just the subject...I realized that the rocking chair was there Sunday evening after I submitted. I knew it would get comments but I'm really proud of how the photo came out and how well it did..thanks to all. :) |

Day Dreamer by MrsKroComment by dmward: This is a nice image of the girl, the soft lighting on the face, flowing to the shadow on the right. The unsettling element is the view outside the window. It is distriacting and visually out of caracter with the expression on the girl's face. My guess is that this was a posed or at least a set up situation. Even if it were just eliminating the "stick" -probably the edge of a chair back on the porch- would help. Using the minimum DoF would also have helped. |

Day Dreamer by MrsKroComment by DesertRat2002: Not sure what the post is, but I'd get rid of it.Great lighting, bright and soft on subject. Vertical blinds add a nice frame. Even a few stray hairs show up well. |

Day Dreamer by MrsKroComment by GeneralE: Very expressive, effective grayscale. I little dark on my monitor -- I bet if looks really great at high resolution. |

Day Dreamer by MrsKroComment by Patella: Very pretty. I'm not sure what the item is just outside the window (a chair?) but I wish it weren't there. It looks, a little, like she's staring at it, but since I don't know what it is, I can't think of a reason for her to be looking at it. Whereas if it's not there, then she's simply staring out the window.... |

Day Dreamer by MrsKroComment by timj351: This is mostly really good but what is seen in the window is very distracting. This could be a classic case for using a circular polarizer filter. You should be able to turn the filter so the window reflects the image, which I think would be ideal here. Or else crop it so it is a portrait format to eliminate the window intirely. The light is gorgeouse on the girl. |
