and the sky is a hazy shade of winterby vawendyComment by Melethia: Underscored in my book - not exactly sure why other than one commenter mentioned it isn't so much about the sky. Had you just gone with "Hazy Shade of Winter" as many did, you might have fared better with those who don't know the lyrics. I like the wide view, the composition to include the foreground, and the distant mist. Works for me just fine. |

Monet's Bluebirdby vawendyComment by Yo_Spiff: You're right. You will get killed for this one, and despite being a bluebird, nobody would recognize it as yours. Some nice bokeh going on, however. |

IMG_8937.jpgby vawendyComment by ErikV: The skin color seems best on this one. But the pose here is my least favorite of the three. |

IMG_8953.jpgby vawendyComment by ErikV: I like this one the best as a candid or as an environmental portrait, as it places him nicely in his element. |

IMG_8973.jpgby vawendyComment by ErikV: This is my favorite of the three with respect to the traditional elements of portraiture -- well posed and composed, lighting is great, wonderfully interesting face, nice smile. I agree that the face is a bit on the red side, but easily fixed.
The Lutchenko edit brings out the facial features in a more dramatic way. I think each version has its appeal depending on the purpose of the photo. However I would choose your version if this were my father and I were going to get it framed to hang in the house. |

IMG_8953.jpgby vawendyComment by Jutilda: I think if you played with black and white and adjusted levels, this might really have something. I think it's telling a story more than the other two. :) |
