The Lion Lies Down With The Lambby GeneralEComment by Jaded_Housewife: I like the idea but i'm put off by the crushed velvet. just makes anything look a bit cheesy and cheap. If this were on a smotth fabric I think it would have done better. and maybe if you could have clipped off the yellowish parts of the feather. lighting is great though and it's sharp enough. hope that helps. |

The Lion Lies Down With The Lambby GeneralEComment by GeneralE: Here's a link to the resized but otherwise unprocessed original:
Here is how I set it up with mini-tripod on the handle of my big one:
I thought about this shot throughout the week, but only set it up and shot it in the last hour before the deadline.
In addition to the "quiet" zen theme, I wanted to introduce a yin-yang element, of opposites in harmony (or at least peaceful coexistence), thus two objects of similar topology but opposite textures. I chose the title for the same reason.
Technically, I wish I'd had a better twig I could arch over the feather, but I was pretty happy with the lighting and detail on the feather. Message edited by author 2006-08-10 15:20:38. |

Brass-Wound Bass Stringsby GeneralEComment by EricMGB1974: When you consider the title it's somewhat interesting technically to see the stopped motion of the vibrating strings, but as a picture on it's own I'm afraid there's really not much to draw in the viewer, especially when you consider how dark and indistinct it is. You really have to look hard to see more than the highlights on the strings. |

Bits and Pieces of Hardwareby GeneralEComment by rjkstesch: I can see the attempt was to have the tip of the drill bit in focus, while the background hardware is OOF. That part worked. Using the drill bit as the main subject doesn't pack enough interest to make this a really good shot. It's nice overall. |
