Star Lightby GeneralEComment by GeneralE: Originally posted by annig: what I'm wondering is why a person would know or even think, to do this?? :)
interesting use of technology old & new! |
I was actually trying to make something which would work as a neutral-density filter. I figured I could focus the camera on the distant subject, and that the dots/lines in the filter would be so OOF that they'd disappear -- there's been a recent discussion of this effect in a thread about shooting animals through cage bars. Obviously, it only partially works.
I work in the printing industry, where I'm used to turning images into halftone screens -- clear film with a pattern of dots which simulates the original photograph.
I have some pieces of film with different types of densities and patterns -- I'll have to see what effects they can produce. |

Star Lightby GeneralEComment by magenmarie: Cool little set up. i love the star effect. The blur on this one makes it look dreamy...almost like I'm walking towards "the light" at the end of the tunnel...yikes! |

Fire in the Tunnelby GeneralEComment by Skyarcher: Originally posted by Louis: If one uses a tabbed browser, it's an interesting exercise to flip back and forth between this one and this one rapidly, to get a sense of what the post work did. The images will be perfectly aligned, and the differences made plain. |
Okay, had to try it, am glad I did, thanks Louis! :)
It really is such a dramatic difference. Same image but two totally different feelings from them. Nice experimentation! |
