Hair Wraps and Hennaby GeneralEComment by taterbug: This is a great choice of subject, very interesting, and an engaging character. Composed well also. I think though, that the extreme shadows, and very harsh light on his face and beard (to the point of being blown out) are taking a lot away from the image. It looks like a tough exposure. A case where maybe a different angle would yield more favorable light? Or waiting for a cloud to cross the sun, if even for a moment, to catch a fleeting second of nice diffused light. Or, if this is someone that set's up there on a regular basis, trying to catch on a different day, or a different time of day to catch some good light? |

Betrayalby GeneralEComment by alanjerry: Blurry pounding fist smashing a desk with some evidence would be more convincing, more contrast. |

Betrayalby GeneralEComment by glad2badad: The theme/idea you've used has potential. It fits the challenge and the photo doesn't need some drawn out title to explain it. The image does need a little more attention to detail IMO. Either the DOF is too shallow or the hand moved a little because the fingers seem blurry. For a B/W photo the tonal range seems short. Your black could be darker and the white a truer white. Some of this could be easily adjusted via a histogram adjustment or a slight bump using curves or levels. A small shot of contrast might help as well. There is also some graininess (or noise) that takes away from the photo. Use a lower ISO, run it thru a noise reduction program, or go all the way on noise and add more intentionally.
Just some observations, and certainly JMO. :D Good luck. |
