Oliver Twistby GeneralEComment by dtremain: Comment Challenge: Please, sir, may I have some more? The creative angle and focus on the empty bowl make this shot. The fingers on the left side of the image look funky and are somewhat distracting. Perhaps a less fancy spoon and the bowl looking like it had been recently used (liquid or wet bottom or like it had been scraped bare and then the last bit drunk from it) would increase the impact of the picture. To me, the person holds the bowl seems to be an adult, and not a child - not sure what visual cues I'm picking up for that. Overall, a very nice image, and a great connection to the novel. |

Oliver Twistby GeneralEComment by Cory: Nice. But the bowl and spoon are far nicer than any orphan would have, or at least nicer than I picture when I read the novel, as is the rather nice shirt... And those hands do not speak to me of poverty.
With that being said. The image is good, if too grainy and just a touch over-sharp in some places (look at the thumbs)
Fits the novel well enough, but not crazy well. Composition leaves something to be desired.

Oliver Twistby GeneralEComment by Abra: Very nicely done. The image is appealing and well processed. It is also the first entry I've come across that I knew what the book would be before seeing your title. 8 |

Oliver Twistby GeneralEComment by daisydavid: I like the grungy feel, maybe a wooden spoon would have been better. Has potential though. The fringing is a little distracting, as is the white dot up top, and the blotchy finger is strange ;) I like the film effect you've produced, looks like a 60's Life magazine shot.6. |

Oliver Twistby GeneralEComment by tvsometime: The neat haircut and mature brow don't suit the street urchin. Technically, the foreground oof area doesn't work either. Arguably, you may be trying to draw attention to the sharply focused spoon but it doesn't work as technique because other elements would have to be similarly oof, especially his cuff, ear and the aforesaid brow. 5 |

Oliver Twistby GeneralEComment by posthumous: all the details of the photo are comfortable middle class, which underlines that this photo is only an exercise (seeing some dirt on his right hand just makes it seem more contrived). on a positive note, I like the composition of dark shapes protruding from the background. It gives a sculptural feel to the image. 4 |

Oliver Twistby GeneralEComment by snaffles: Good image but missing that little bit extra - he's meant to be asking for more porridge so there should be some hint of residue in the spoon and bowl. |
