I think the patters on the wall are interesting. I feel the picture would have been stronger had you stood the photo up so it's not on its side and also did a horizontal flip to have the tall plant on the left side. We tend to scan from left to right, so having the empty space on the left makes the shot seem a bit unbalanced. Being that the photo doesn't haev much color in it, that seems fine, but you may need to do an unmask sharpen after resizing the photo down to 640x?. Your cropping is fine, you may have wanted to include a little more of the table so as to balance the white space at the top.

All in all this is an emotional photo. It is thought provoking and makes me wonder more about the subject in the photo.

This is such a beautiful shot but it seems too unatural. The moss in the foreground looks oversharpened because of the color. I would like to see the original out of the camera.

looks like too much unsharp mask was used...the edges of the tree in the foreground take away from the pic. nice job on framing and composition.

Very spooky. Armageddon or what? The use of complimentary blue and yellow hues is interesting. An unusual but dramatic color choice for water. The steeple piercing the bottom centre also has real kinetic thrust. This is an arresting diversion from a theme that could be plauged by calendar attempts. Thank you for venturing so creatively. A good image.

Thanks all for your comments -- my "strange" object has never been identified at any of several "guess the object" games, yet there is a picture of one in my older copy of The Joy Of Cooking. I think I'll wait a week before I reveal all, however...

I did use the on-camera flash, and I also intentionally left the lighting a little harsh and cold to accentuate the metallic elements.

Absolutely gorgeous! I love the light. The light in the foreground tree is incredible. The sky is a little grainy so I give you a 9

Critique Club Critique

(1) COMPOSITION (CONTENT) Well composed. The strong use of diagonal leading lines makes a very powerful composition.

(2) BACKGROUND I love the background that you have used, makes it look even more like an exam room. If the white paper/cloth has been completely smooth, it would not have added so much texture to the photo.

(3) CAMERA WORK ,TECHNICAL Exposure seems a little harsh to me. I am wondering if you use the on-camera flash? On first look I thought that some softer lighting would have made the photo better. On second thought, this reminds me of a horror film...and maybe the harsh light was intentional. It does add to the creepy feeling one gets from that scarey looking instrument in the upper left.

(4) DIGITAL PROCESSING ,TECHNICAL Good processing. I wonder how this would have looked in Black and White. That might have given it that feeling of being from an old "B" horror movie.

(5)MEETING THE CHALLENGE This photo does a very good job of meeting the challenge. I do not know what that instrument is, but it totally looks out of place in an exam room.

(6) MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO A very interesting photo. It tells a story, although a frightening one. Dr. Frankenstein anyone?
