Opposable Thumbby GeneralEComment by phoensoul: Is that an animal bone? And is an opposable thumb really what sets this person apart from the rest of humanity? Well photographed, but this shot doesn't make sense without an explanation. |

Foggy Parkby GeneralEComment by DianaB: Thank you for sharing this on the 'mist' thread on DPC. You seem to have captured a definite contrast between the mist softening the trees to the background and the band of grass to the fore. The trees further to the edge seem to provide a level betwixt the two - forming an almost 3-layer affect to the whole scene.
I hope you weren't driving at the same time as you took the photo!? :-) |

Cat O' Nine Beansby GeneralEComment by GeneralE: This finished ranked quite a bit higher than I expected, and with a pretty positive response from the commenters -- about the opposite of what I expected. Thanks to all of you who took more than a moment to look and comment! |

Coot and Cattailsby GeneralEComment by jaredldr: Interesting subject. The composition could have been a little more interesting if the subject were off center a bit. |

Coot and Cattailsby GeneralEComment by terje: Over exposed nose, and lack of contrast brings this done a bit. Don't be afraid to use more contrast in your images. Choice of subject is good. Good luck |

Belt, Cam, Gear, Hose, Lever, Pulley, Spring ...by GeneralEComment by GeneralE: Originally posted by ursula: Hey, congratulations! I like this! |
Thanks -- definitely my best score in a long time!
From the comments it seems I actually addressed the challenge topic in a straightforward way for a change.
Here's a link to a version (at pBase) in the original color; does anyone think it would have done better? I thought it was too dingy and grimy to score well, no matter how closely it met the topic.
