Belgium Beer Trappist from Westmalleby macobeeComment by sfalice: Greetings from the Critique Club
What a fun image. My first impression? Trappist Monks, eh? Good on them! And that got me ruminating on Benedictine brandy, Christian Brothers sherry...and I almost forgot why I was here.
But enough, back to work. I LOVED your lighting. As one who has tried and tried to photograph glass and therefore knows how difficult it is, kudos for getting it right. we do have to talk about that bottle. Slightly soft, I think. Or at least it is on my monitor. Also, the bottle is just the slightest bit tilted. One of those things where either 'a lot or none' might be the rule.
From the pictures you show on DPC it is obvious that you are a food photographer in the making, and with practice and study - because it IS an art - it looks as if you have the drive to go far in this field.
Keep 'em coming. Your images are fun, and soon you will be scoring up there with the best.
I hope this little critique is helpful to you.

Belgium Beer Trappist from Westmalleby macobeeComment by Ja-9: Most European beer is served warm isn't it....I was going to say that adding some water drops to the bottle would make this more appealing but I think that is the difference between American beer and European beer. We look for the "coldness" of a beer bottle and/or glass. Your picture is super clear and well lit |

24 Hours Cooked Suckling Pigby macobeeComment by Melethia: Greetings from the Critique Club!
I'm probably not the best to critique this shot as I am not a "foodie", but based on your comments received during the challenge, you've pleased many of those folks who do like food shots, so that's good! To me, this looks pretty well lit although there are a few reflections that a softer light might have prevented. Colors are good and seem very natural. The only suggestion I'd make, and not sure how you do it, is to ensure the spoon is clean above the gravy line, if that makes sense. And good job catching the gravy as it drips!
