Comment by MaryO:
I'm kind of amused that the UMW sign in the shot is still in perfect shape while the building crumbles around it. Especially since it looks like that's in the oldest part of the building.

You'd think it being on the register of historic places would prompt someone to do something about it, but I guess no one thinks it's worth the investment. Rather sad. I can see why you wanted to tell this story.

Like others have sad, very good composition. The area is almost backlit which creates some interesting shadows.

Nice textures and color. Not something I feel that would score high in a DPC challenge but it sure is beautiful and sad.

This has a nice humor to it, and the overall coloring says "The Southwest" very well. Very sad story about the town.

Most excellent composition. All the pertinent elements of the image shine wonderfully. The path, the ruins, the big, round rocks - stunning. Love your processing too.

Wow Barbara, you really did a great job on this. I love the path leading to the ruins and the wonderful dynamic range (without being HDR). The smooth rocks contrast great with the rough desert landscape too...It reminds me of flipping through a book I have called "Ansel Adams and the Photographers of the American West"...

Comment by figaro:
Perfect exposure, great composition with bags of character. There's so much detail in here to hold my attention. I don't think you could have conceivably taken this shot much better - the lack of 'wow' factor prevents a really high score but high scores are overrated!

Composition of this is fabulous. The footpath leads you into the picture exactly as you intended. I wonder if a slight levels or curve adjustment would boost the contrast a little.

Comment by Bud:
Nice wow factor, there is alot of interest created by the low angle of the sun and also the range of tones. I really like this.
