Specimen #83: Pulvis Lunaris, or, The Coagulation of Woodby rooumComment by EL-ROI: Unbelievably low finish!!! I cannot believe it!!! This was one of the best of the challenge!!! Seriously not appreciated work here!!! I am dumbfounded how this did not finish at least in the top ten!!! This is great camera work! I'm quite upset!!! I need to add a few more exclamations here!!! I was your ten vote!!!!!! |

Abstracts, Spring Catalogue — Pg. 87by rooumComment by h2: As this is the first one of the "abstract" entries I come across in voting, I'll comment on this only; your companions will read it anyway.
I understand that someone who believes an artistic photograph has to be blurry, under- or overexposed, sepiatoned b/w with an unidentifiable, but in any case dirty or rotten subject must hate a "product shot" challenge. But that is what makes DPC a good place: a wide range of subjects to choose from and no pressure to enter or to vote- if you like tack sharp flower shots or appetizing food-shots like I do there's a load of opportunities as well as for those that like expressionist work or grungy close-ups. Don't try to change DPC or the average voters opinion, you will fail, rather find the niche you fit into.
Don't expect this to do badly, so you can say you are misjudged genius - there's always some people (at least the rest of your circle) that will give out high votes for humor (though I find the load of abstracts annoying), or for an emotion that your work will unintentionally evoke. It will do mediocre, like you probably are.
5, to help you over your hurt feelings. |

Specimen #83: Pulvis Lunaris, or, The Coagulation of Woodby rooumComment by vlado: This is wonderful. I love the detail and use of shallow DOF to bring attention to it. Processing is great... though somewhat unconventional here on DPC... I'm thinking that's what I like so much about it... has a warmth about it. I feel I was a bit harsh on this during my voting phase and bumping it up a little to join 8 other images I've given my top. Well done. |
