Li River, Guangxi, China by salmiakkiComment: I predict a ribbon - for me this is a winning picture.
The mystic atmosphere, the calmness, colours, reflection, exotic landscape, balanced composition, the sharpness of the fisherman and the birds next to the lantern and on the oar - all this adds up to a perfect 10 |

1.mal di lunaby mariucaComment: Watching your essay makes me feel uneasy... it's a mixture between a nightmare and a real threat.
The shadows you captured are extremly powerful, the picture with the eyes gives me shivers down the spine... could very well be a scene from a horror movie. Or - less scaring off - a scene from "Night at the Museum" or "Angels and Demons"
If your pictures evoke such strong emotions then you made everything right about creating that essay!
In fact I'm wondering how you could take this pictures at night.. are you living in an exhibition hall??? |

On the Edge of a Precipiceby instepsComment: Good morning Henry
I was looking at your essay several times now and each time I had different feelings about it.
First time I was just taking a short glance at the pictures without reading your explanation. I felt somewhat puzzled and sad at the same time although I didn't know exactly why
The next time, a few hours later, I read the accompanying words before watching the essay which made me concentrate on the historical aspects but kept my feelings a little bit surpressed.
Then I admired the technical qualitly of the pictures- I espaecially love the one with the tape on the window pane and the view along the hallway.
The last times I browsed through your essay it was a pure pleasure: the combination of atmospheric pictures of a lost place with historical substance and the subtle emotion of oppression on top. |
