I find this immediately appealing as a nicely composed grouping. The second version doesn't change that much and although I like the bw conversion, I'm less in favor of the vignette.

The problem with still lifes is that we expect everything to be perfect or planned with a purpose. Quite a challenge especially for us with attention deficit issues. That's why I don't try. So I find both interesting but so different in lighting and composition that it is difficult to choose a preference. I find myself more interested in the two as a set - a study in process of how we can see the same subject and alter our perceptions over time.

Somehow the quality of the photograph fits the difficulty and rarity of the subject. Maybe not perfect but you got it and we didn't.

I have to think this is about more than food and the rolling pin seems throw out a hint. Or at least a challenge about what we think about the production of food. Maybe the heavy rolling pin was used to crack the head of the lamb to get at the rack. Maybe not but knowing you, there is more to this than meets the eye - so to speak. Nicely photographed using that articulated screen on the G12.
