I've always liked brooding photos, and this one is no different. The drab scene just makes the color all the more remarkable, and I really enjoy that. The clouds/fog also help to close the scene in; very nice.

I went ahead, out of curiosity, and copied a version into PS and did some BW messing around, and it turns out some interesting results, but they are a totally different feel from what you got here. They look almost abstract, and are a giant departure from the obvious scene we have here. I'm not really sure if I prefer it one way or the other, since it really depends what sort of a feeling you wanted to cast as to which is "better."
Here's what I mean...

In any case, emphasizing the contrast a bit might have helped this, and differentiated the posts from the water.

Somewhat surprising to see the grain in a challenge like this, but it's appreciated. Your entry is different in other ways too- the blue, the fact that the bottle is askew.. interesting. I like it.
