Houston, we have a problem.by aliquiComment: I knew right away what this was when I saw it (or, at least, I knew what the wing was and quickly deduced the larger subject). I didn't vote, but this really is an awesome shot. The relevance to the quote is perfect, but the silhouette of the head with crossed legs is pretty haunting (quite reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock). Very cool- fav for sure. Message edited by author 2011-12-28 20:37:28. |

Year 9999 AD - The Gift of Humankind to the Evolutionby Alex_PetriniComment: Saw your request in the forums for comments.
I didn't vote this particularly high or low. I gave you a 6. I felt that you combined your elements well. A lot of entries did not, and while I don't think you need to go crazy with scene manipulation, making whatever you do look fitting and natural is key. You did a decent job of that.
Subject wise, this is trying to be Dali-esque. It is not being Dali-esque, but trying so. It seems aimless and senseless why the objects were assembled together. There is no direction, no true statement in the image of what has come. |

lunacy/death of an illusionby tnunComment: Bummer this scored as low as it did. Those natural tattered drums all lined up, my favorite from this challenge. |

Orbitby RKTComment: The fact that I've pursued entomology for years makes me point out the problem of a crab in your shot, but this is very nice beside that. The DoF is effectively chosen for the subject and works very well. |

Solid Cat 2.jpgby kirbicComment: I had never heard of this bizarre type of mirror lens until now. How odd...
Might I ask what prompted you to pick one of this particularly rare type up? |

Nuclear-Holocaustby Dr.ConfuserComment: Very macabre, Strangelovey. Digging the dark humor.

Quahogby Bear_MusicComment: I'm not huge on a lot of lensbaby shots because the effect on many of them feels senseless and randomized. This fits nicely, however, and is a pretty cool shot.
How close can you focus with these? I wonder how they'd take extension tubes.... |
