I agree about the blues, but I think what really makes them pop is the black background, and especially the localized contrast on the individual petals- those darks really make the blue explode from the flower, and they also have the consequence of setting off the orange/yellow against the blues as well. Nice edit.

Kudos for creating an image that actually depicts the nature of the challenge. The manner in which you've created your shot lends more to the idea of the musician and the intangible than any other entry I've seen so far has. Hope this ribbons.

This is way overprocessed, but it has created an interesting outcome that is somewhat of a cross between surreal and abstract.

I'd personally prefer a bit more contrast.

The ringlight is sorta weird, but it's a good use of a lensbaby.

Hello from the Critique Club,

The first thing I notice about your photo is the right side of the frame. This is largely because of the golden reflections in the water, which are far more vibrant than the majority of the frame. I enjoy how the line of the waterfall leads the eye upwards towards the “Cold” element of your photo, serving as a nice segue for the viewer. But upon reaching this point, there isn’t a whole lot of interest here. The lighting on the waterfall is very pleasing, but the patchy light on the ice and remainder of the waterfall do not do it any favors. The large rock chunks and stray branch also do not seem to add much to the photo. Bringing a greater emphasis to the waterfall and ice would have benefited things, though I can’t say it was feasible having not seen the location. Perhaps lowering the point of view and rotating the perspective to the right would have cut out this element to the left and kept the viewer more focused on things. It would also increase the length of the waterfall as a leading line, pulling the viewer across the photo more fully.
You may also have considered shooting this during a different time of day when there was not the patchy lighting.

Hello from the Critique Club and welcome to the site!

It’s good that you’re considering the idea of cold as a whole and not just “lets take a photo of a pile of snow or an icecube,” but remember that voters are relatively direct in their interpretation of subject matter. I think this is part of what docked your score. Beyond this and in regard to technicals, you have good focus and your saturation is good, but there isn’t much color in your photo. Also, considering the pose you were in, I think it would definitely have been feasible to decrease your shutter speed to knock down your ISO, and all the noise with it (which is pretty apparent). Noisy photos are not always well received even if the noise is used appropriately with the subject matter and almost never if it doesn’t have some clear relationship. The doorway is also a bit skewed, and this could have been alleviated a bit by a more careful placement of the camera.
I agree with Yo_Spiff on his point as well- emphasizing the breath on the window would make for a closer relationship between Cold and your chosen subject matter by concentrating on the portion that is cold, and not the aspect that is locked out.
Try to also think about how you weren’t able to accomplish what you set out to- understanding how to achieve your vision is, after all, just as integral as having an interesting idea.
Keep at it, and I hope to see more of your photos in the future.

Might I be so bold as to ask where the actual sun was in the photo? I know you say midday, but how direct of sunlight were you getting and what was the azimuth and inclination? We'll assume the direction the camera is facing is the 0 degree mark for simplicity's sake.

This is awesome. I love stupid things like this. Have you ever gone to Car Henge? It's a few hours north-north east of where I live. Also, when I was driving around New Zealand you'd find giant junk all over the place. Great stuff.

Cool bokeh- it looks like a bunch of coins/discs stacked upon each other.
