Hafnarfjordurby IvarComment: Lovely colors and impressively noiseless. I'm interested to see how long an exposure this is. |

The Vertical Lift Railroad Bridge in my Townby jmritzComment: I can see where this landmark would the be subject for this challenge. For me, though, I think it would be worth the time invested to crop and clone this a little differently. The heavy shadow in the foreground is both distracting and sad because the grass does help to provide a context for the structures. I think that if you could get the shot without the shadow then I'd leave the grass but in this version I think I'd crop the photo so that this shadow was not visible. Also, the powerlines running parallel to the ground and from the bottom of the bridge up to the top edges are distracting against the lovely, noiseless sky. IMO this photo is a candidate for the Advanced Editing rules in that removing these powerlines wouldn't take away from the integrity but would keep a very small element from being distracting all the way across the photo. Finally there is a sign at the bottom of the bridge and that sign is bright white, probably from reflected sunlight. I think that could be darkened a little to keep it from distracting the viewer as their view travels up, down and across the bridge. I like the subject and the angle provides the viewer with a path to follow visually. You've managed to capture something that looks active (what with all the girders and beams) against a smoothly graded, calm background. |

Santorini shoresby HardfireComment: I like this effect here with the silhouette of the cliff jutting out into the water and the colored blossoms overlaying it in the foreground. Very nice. I think this would have had just a little more impact to me if it had been cropped in on the left side just a little to remove the distracting edges of that bush in the lower left corner and if the bottom had been cropped up just a little. This, IMO, would help to center the story of the dark cliff silhouette as a background for the nearer, colored blossoms. I think that is the strength of this shot as a silhouette. As just a location shot the whole thing works to make me want to visit. |

Negative Space Abstractby darcyComment: I like this idea. I think you executed it well, too. To me it would have had more impact had you extended your negative space more to the sides rather than top to bottom. The effect produced (IMO) would have been to reinforce the horizontal aspect of your silhouetted subject. I like the placement you selected in the composition. |

dancing at duskby tomzinhoComment: This shot just feels like it has too much action to me. Selecting just a few branches and zooming in might have given a clearer message from my perspective. |

The Old Oak Treeby Links 2 3 4Comment: I wish you could have cloned out the power lines in the bottom right third. Gorgeous composition and coloring. I like the tones you captured here. |

Waitingby artvetComment: Great effect on this shot. From my point of view I see this more as a shadow than a silhouette. The only real difference is whether I'm stading in the subject's shadow or off to the side but here it just doesn't seem to me to be a silhouette. Love the shot, though. |

Grand Finale: Sunset at Magic Islandby Bran-O-RamaComment: I would have liked this better if you'd cropped the upper tree out of the frame and made it much more of a horizontal shot from the dark ground up into the pinkish section of the sky just above the palm trees. Just my take on it. |
