With Brightness of Peaceby wwwavengerComment: I feel like you must be trying to say something here I just don't understand what it is. As an expressive piece I can see how it may have deep value for you but I just don't seem to be getting it here. The title "With Brightness of Peace" doesn't seem to have any connection in my mind to the phrase written in the photograph "love is a place". I can see how the feet might have some tie-in as they are how we are most often connected to places we travel but I think I must be failing to see the big picture. I hope you'll elaborate on this after the challenge either in your notes about the shot or with a PM. |

Earth From Above by hopperComment: Outstanding lighting. I do hope you share your lighting and camera placement as well as the support(s) holding the book after the contest is over. Very nice work. |

In Memory of Marlon Brandoby v_prageComment: Firstly this is an incredible composition given the topic. You selected and composed this shot very well. Sadly I think it would have benefited from more light to bring out the white of the page against the ivory of the keys and to brighten the tones in the fabric at the top of the shot. I think you should take great pride in having an eye for this composition and the DOF you exhibited. Very nice. The one nit with how you laid it out is the words on what appears to be a sheet of paper on the far left of the image just under the sheet music. The power of this shot is derived from the topic "Words" and your creative vision wherein the title of the music are the only words easily in focus for the viewer. The other words just become slightly distracting. Contrast this with the much smaller words both above and below the title; these are not distracting as they are almost unreadable. |

Nasty Reflexionby BassieComment: I'll have to admit that I thought this must be juvenile manipulation from the thumbnail of it but once I saw the strategic placement of the can and straw this jumped a couple of points in my evaluation. Creative vision of a somewhat baser overall message. Good job. |

Radio Vanby FrostyPawsComment: Absolutely love the subject but the background is waaay to busy. Creative composition with the hatch lifted in the back. |

In defence of libertyby lwkimagesComment: I would have liked to see this cropped just slightly tigher on the lefthand side. The righthand edge is fine but since the canon is pointing off the right side of the image I think it might give more visual impact to crop the photo lower (with less sky) and tighter on the left. |

Sleeping Beeby pitsamanComment: Incredible DOF for such a closeup. Ahh, f/13. Challenging lighting I would expect then. Great job, pitsaman! |

Rusted Geometryby bradbaneComment: Great use of DOF for this shot. Love the central theme of rust in this composition as well as the continuity you keep in the shot with most of the pieces extending out of the frame of view (notable exception in top right corner of the photo). I wish you hadn't captured the shadow in the lower left corner but overall this is a very strong photo. |
