Tickling the Ivories

Tickling the Ivories

Comment:
There's a strong sense of line from top left along the arm to the middle right. And that's exactly where the bright areas are. So, in terms of composition, this works very well. However, the subject is a bit bland and impersonal. A bit more drama would help here.

The skin textures on the hand are very powerful. The duotoning was a good choice to emphasise the age of the subject. I also like the pose. What surprises me is that I like the negative space on the right. Its emptiness really supports the meaning here.

Your recent forum posting of this photo let me know of this. Anyway, what a wonderful idea and recreation of that idea! Top class for this genre.

Sorry, Im not funny. lol

This made me laugh. However, adding a period might help, too. (The last sentence might be read in various ways, too.)

Well hung in the laundry room, lucky me. No one came while shooting.

Chinese chopsticks and Japanese food? I love wasabi (in moderation), but unfortunately, it doesn't look very appetising here. Sorry.

This is cool, especially knowing that the black was made using a t-shirt. Good stuff.

I really like the graphic nature of this shot: the two silhouetted figures popping out of the black foreground against a powerful sky. Very artistic. This would work very well as an album cover (squared).

The tonal range, the composition and the capture are all fine. But what works for me most is the perfectly humourous and fitting title. But why, oh why, 71st?

Fairground Ride

This is a wonderful shot for me. The opposition of the supposedly fantastic fairground ride with what seems to be a quiet sense of panic in the couple is so funny. I'm left wondering if the panic is about the ride or the relationship. Great moment. Thanks.

I'm adding this to my favourites because your message is exactly what I aspire to this year.
