Natural Beautyby jpochardComment: The first commenter touched upon the reason it didn't score higher. People thought it was a failed attempt at selective desat and scored it appropriately. That's the first thing that hit me as well. Of course I know it wasn't desaturated but that's the look this image has, unfortunately. The shadow at bottom left didn't help either. |

Water Bugby BujanxComment: Great shot of this water spider. Love the contrast between the reflection on the water and the insect. |

Day 6 @ 100mmby ShutterPugComment: Did you post in the wrong thread? Were you looking for the fixed focal length thread?
No matter, this is a beautiful late spring image. Life! |

Day 6: Lady Bug 2by bobonacusComment: I prefer the other shot to this one. Looks like he's munching down on that plant. Nice overall shot of this beetle.
I would have preferred a darker bg. Just to nitpick. ;\ |

Day 5: Lady Bugby bobonacusComment: Wow nice capture. Love the colours of that shell. Almost looks as if it was abandoned.

Day 4: Family Bugsby bobonacusComment: Great shot. Nice to see even little insects like this have paternal instincts. Love the colours and the focus isn't to bad at all, at least for the bugs. |

Day 3: Greenby bobonacusComment: Nice plant/tree. I didn't think Berkshire had such tropical looking plants. I like the softness of the leaves. Good capture. |

He's in up to his neck in pollen !by ShutterPugComment: These bugs must just love it. Like swimming in sugar gummies and eating them up with no worry of the consequences. Great shot of this insect having a meal. Lovely colours. Would have liked to see more of his face just a bit. |

20080604 Backyard Macro N14438-s720 -1-5.jpgby NeilComment: Beautiful bokeh. I like the softness too and those stamens add colour to that bright spot just above them. And that brings me to my nitpick. That bright spot takes away some attention from the flower, my eyes are drawn to it. |

Ready To Flyby bnileshComment: I agree with nshapiro in that it's sharp but not like the big guys do it. I wonder what they do to achieve that crispness besides using a medium format camera. |
