Great you can see their faces in this and the colour of their kit helps them stand out.

Maybe a wider aperture of f/4 (with the 1.4x) would have helped make them stand out even more by reducing the dof. It would be nice if you could have got in a little tighter (assuming you were not already at full zoom!)

As others have said would be nice to see the faces, however I like the fact you've captured the stumps flying and the players stand out well :)

If you cropped this as well the noise will look more than it is, you could use the magnetic selection tool, select the two players, invert the selection and then run some noise reduction on the rest as that doesn't matter if it gets a bit softer and noise seems to be worse in the bokeh

Very nice composition but the crop has hurt you a bit on clarity as you mention. It's nice you have his face and expression in the shot. If you shot below 1/500 you could try a faster shutter speed which may increase the clarity but probably won't make much difference.

Matt's suggestion of panning is a good idea if you are going to be struggling for sharpness make it a feature of your shot ... though it is pretty hard to get right so I'd recommend shooting some stopped action shots as well to fall back on!
