Crossingsby ImagineerComment: Thank you for all the comments here - in particular ubique for that eloquent critique. I had exercised restraint with the processing here, for the very reasons ubique mentions. It's easy to get heavy-handed with processing for the extra 'pop' that so often succeeds in a challenge environment. However, some subjects don't need pushing which would only lose some of the detail in the outer extremes of the scale (there's a full tonal range in this shot).
I really did want to find a subject that I could shoot despite some totally uninteresting light on a miserably cold, overcast day. Thankfully, it seems to have pleased some.

Morning Dew by PoobaComment: I never tire of these shots and it's a beauty you've got here. Great focus and array of droplet sizes. |

Pushed to the City Limitby dw_photoComment: A pleasant scene with the city nicely framed. Your model's position though has anaesthetised the shot, making it too personal and leaving the viewer aware of the pose. This would have been more emotive with the person more distant, perhaps walking away from us.
It may even have worked well having the person standing much closer so that we see only shoulder and back of head, as if looking daunted at what the city may hold. It sometimes helps to try and see things through the eyes of a film director for shots like this. |

A License for Everythingby cyanComment: Yes, it's out of focus, but photography isn't about perfection [purrfection?] - and this is a novel take on a subject that really is only likely to be found in the city, where such trivial embellishments as this are plentiful. I like it, and it's memorable.
However, your score will die a death, and you should try to take the time to show the subject to its best potential. I would have positioned the puss left as if to suggest more interest in the off-screen action. Faster shutter speed to prevent blur (higher ISO - like 800) and lower f no. like f4. |

21st centuryby ZigomarComment: Technically imperfect, but I'd rather look at this shot than 99% of the other standard views. This says so much. And is that a satellite TV dish in the middle of ths shot? What a crazy world. |

At the stroke of midnight.by sissiComment: Well chosen view of this frequently shot Icelandic masterpiece. The rear firework makes the shot and you've got some nice context. Some nice drama and possibly a ribbon I expect due to the eye candy on show. |

the promise of a generationby mattvardyComment: Oversmoothed, this shot has lost some of its impact through an obsession with the processing. It looks like everything is in place though; poignancy, scale, context, composition, but my eyes crave the missing texture.
A empathise totally with the point you make here, so top marks for the social comment. |
