Stanley by ChasSourekComment: This could be a winner - mainly due to the cracking pose, name and character of your subject. His battle scars , while a bit unsightly, do accentuate the character which, after all, is what portraiture is all about. |

The Divine Ms. Pby L1Comment: A touch more DOF would really perfect this shot. You've captured your pageant queen very nicely indeed. |

Maxby whatdewucComment: Good pose and light. Background is not great but the posture makes up for it largely.
Separate score for cat's tactile 'fuzzy-felt' mouth/nose junction (specially evolved to accommodate a gently moving human fingertip):

My Best Friendby fotodudeComment: Interesting technique (lens baby or something?) - this is evocative and delivers a good sense of context and character. Not your typical portrait so good on you! I just wish you had him off-centre in the comp. |

Jackby fredandaudComment: Very distinguished looking pose. Looks like a painted army general!
Image looks a little compressed/sharpened/noisy and quite top heavy in the black area. Good portrait though and well lit. |

Chuckers my Backyard Buddyby NovaTigerComment: One of the best views yet of a squirrel's tail. Excellent.
I had a 'pet' squirrel once - rescued a baby that fell from nest - nurtured it for weeks and then released it. Called Chippy.
: )
Your composition is a bit ordinary/snap shot, so the portrait element is quite weak, but it's a good capture with some nice light. |

Teeter Totterby ShannonComment: The shapes and colours are quite strong, but you need a long DOF here, and the background is still quite distracting. Overall the image lacks focal interest so you ideally need to be above the shapes to cut out the other context, or to get in close and prevent us form knowing what we're looking at. |
