Lorikeetby ahjennyComment: Hello from the Critique Club,

This is a great shot, it is almost right in focus and for this particular challenge would have worked better if the bird was slightly more out of focus. Your colours are strong and rich, sharpness is excellent.
Dahkota said everything you really need to know about this shot. |

Absconding from Focusby moriadelacroixComment: Hello from the Critique Club,

I think you have a good solid shot here, but I also think that as it was Advanced that a little more contrast and details would have helped a little. A little colour in the wood(?) would have made your ant pop a little more. IT is really rather blending in right now.
It almost looks like you used a Lensbaby on this shot.
I think you placed well in this challenge for this shot. Well done |

... for the last timeby MacroMakerComment: This shot to me is the only outstanding shot in this whole challenge. It doesn't matter where you place or where your score is. This is a truly excellent shot. Well done |

The Specific Gravity Of A Lie.by rooumComment: Hi from the Critique Club,
You asked that one of your shots have a comment from one of the members of the Critique Club.
This is an interesting shot. You have a very good POV going on here. The one thing that is not going for you is that it looks like a stuffed animal. One way to avoid this is to bring more life into the eyes. There is a great tutorial on how to make eyes pop in the Tutorial tab on DPC. Using some of these techniques could have made this come alive versus the dead eye stare.
HDR is meant to bring out all the hidden details that are not not easily captured in a single shot. But to be honest in this finished shot it is not showing too many more details than a one shot, shot.
Maybe some curves, selective colours would have popped the fur as well.

Desolateby MsAmbrosiaComment: Hi from the Critique Club

I would say that the only thing that is hurting you here is the over brightness and saturation of the greens. The sky would be just perfect with if the greens where a little tuned down.
Good placement on this shot and a marvelous scene, well done

Fun shot here, I am not sure i am seeing the HDR in this image. Reading your notes also seem to confirm this. HDR is usually 2 or more shots that are blended together. BUT in saying that, the old fashioned way was using your exposure , highlights shadows, contrasts and I think you may have gone this way. As I am pretty sure that shooting from a speeding car would be hard to get 2 or more shots the same!
You have amazing sharpness here, the clarity is spot on. The cyans do seem just a tad cyan. Your POV is fair, I think if you had cropped up to the fence and had the sky as the main focal point this would have scored a little higher. Your DOF is excellent with everything in focus.
Nice shot and I hope you had a nice holiday!
