At The Right Angleby pkanhereComment: ***Greetings from the critic club***
Congrats on your first entry, you got a nice score.
I thinks you did a good use of DOF, wich helps to isolate your subject, though I migh have worked better if you have filled the frame a bit more with your subject to show more detail, also, the focus seems a bit off, this might have something to do with your shutter speed, since theses little guys tend to move fast, you need a faster shutter speed.
About the editing, you might want to try lowering a bit the saturations on the greens.
I hope this helps.

Lavender in the Gardenby dd1989Comment: **Greetings from the critic club***
I think you did a good job in use a narrow DOF, isolating you subject and making it stand out. By looking at you setting I can see that you were shooting in low light, wich has caused some noise on your background, I would also have prefered a smother transition between the two colors. Sometimes it's better to wait for a better light condition, so you can use a lower ISO and a faster shutter wich will allow you to get a sharper image.
Now about the composition, I think is pleasing, but it might work better if you fill the frame a bit more with your subject and moving it a little bit more to one of the sides, instead of entering the frame exactly by the corner.
I hope this helps. Message edited by author 2008-09-22 20:55:02. |

Hershey's Serving Set - $24.99 - Free Shippingby bobnospumComment: **Greetings from the critic club**
I think this is a nice product shot, even thoug your focus seems to be a bit off, you are showing nice detail of your product, wich is what most people like, specially if you are buying from the web or a catalogue.
Technical aspects: I think you did a good job with the background, and the composition is pleasing, though some people would have prefer a different angle, maybe positioning the camera at the same level as the mugs. The lighting is acceptable, but I think you can get a cleaner picture, one without reflections, it help if you can use a softbox, and some reflecting items, sometimes even need a double diffusion.
I hope this helps. |
