The best insect macro this challenge. I really wish I hadn't entered one now! What sets this one above the rest is the composition and background. No distracting elements, the simplicity works very well. The dof is spot-on, very nice clarity in your subject. You bring out the character of your grasshopper well. Nice colours. Effective lighting and exposure. 10

Oh, beautiful. I love creative exploration of light and shadow and colour and texture, and here it is! Very nicely composed. If it were me, I might up the saturation just a little bit, and reduce the contrast in curves for a more delicate feel. 8
