I didn't see the connection with life at first, but then I don't have a bike!
I can image that once you're bitten by that bug, that your bike not only becomes 'life', but is also a great analogy for it as well. This portrait is great, at first I thought it was a little blurry, but then if he prizes the bike more than himself, I can see why the focus is there. Great atmosphere evoked in the shot, very moody. Great use of b&w. The hands are what makes this shot particularly effective. Nice use of light and shadow. 8 (I'd have given a 10 if I didn't have to be so creative matching the shot to the challenge!).

Dear God, where has that enorous intrusive border come from? An interesting abstract, but hard to focus on it as opposed to the border. NeatImage could have done wonders for the noise levels in the shot. Without border, score possibly 7. With border: 5

Oh WOW what an excellent idea for this challenge. I wish your picture was larger though, and this is a rare occasion when I feel a frame could really have helped here. I think that a landscape orientation crop with perhaps a timeline containing events in a person's life could have helped. The tall crop here emphasises the height of the flame, rather than the horizontal movement. 6

Fantastic concept and execution. The roots in water are excellent. Not entirely sure about the effectiveness of the sky, but a darned good shot anyway. HOWEVER, I can't stand your border, which I'm going to have to knock off a couple of points for. I cannot concentrate on the photo with that huge frame pulling my eye away, and your photo has been made far too small. Shame. 7

Life is like a Frisbee?!? I think that's the stretchiest analogy I've come across for life yet. That's worse than a box of chocolates. The photo is pretty cluttered, there's too much background that distracts from the subject. 4
