Don't Go!by FlynnComment: The face is badly underexposed, and since the dog is looking straight at the photographer, I don't get a feeling of aloneness from this shot. 2 |

Dusk landingby JeanComment: A great picture, almost amazing.
I really wish that the plane was flying INTO the negative space, rather than out of it. Then it would be a sure winner and one of my favourite pictures on the site. However, because it is flying away from the negative space, score: 7
Fantastic sillhouette, great colours, good use of light. I love the propellers. |

Autumn scienceby smr78Comment: Yes, I think this is an excellent way to meet the challenge. Seeing things under a magnifying glass is a great analogy for a lot of what science is about. And it looks great in this shot, lovely colours and composition. I think a lot of science is also about studying the inert and dead to understand the living, so autumn works very well for you here.
Score: 10
Edit: my favourite shot this challenge. |

Old hydroelectric plantby victor01Comment: Lovely shot, great exposure... some nice textures in there. The bottom half of the frame is just too busy for my taste though and detracts heavily. 6 |

Happy Pillsby rll07Comment: Great idea for the challenge, shame about these points:
The lighting could be a lot better... at least 2 light sources are needed to avoid the ugly shadows.
The base does not look very good... you need better material to compose your shot with other than this brown grainy stuff.
The focus is badly out, you can really see this when looking at the text on the label.
As I said though, fantastic concept which with better execution could have led to a winner, as DPCers like these kinds of shots.
