Macby sfmorrisComment: Powerful looking portrait of your horse.
I've found the best way (that I have found so far) of avoiding the banding in the sky is to first do noise reduction on the sky with some other tool that handles solid areas better. I create a duplicate layer and run a heavy NR pass on it, then often add a little gaussian blur as well. erase through and merge. That smooths out the sky better and the Topaz NR then creates less halos and banding.

canada-geeseby sfaliceComment: Not an obvious use of Topaz, but you've done with it what I have used PSP's clarify adjustment until now. Just using it to give the photo some visual pop. Nicely done and cute duckies geesies. Message edited by author 2009-05-01 21:33:59. |

-oil-derrick-by sfaliceComment: No longer a photograph, but very pleasing. I can see something like this used in an advertisement or presentation for the oil industry.
I think what I may start doing, is when I get an effect I like, save it as a preset, so I can reproduce it and figure out what I did. Message edited by author 2009-05-01 09:17:21. |

Gelati-Makerby BAMartinComment: Gives it a lot of pop, but still looks natural. I might not have recognized this as Topaz, though I would have recognized some tweaking went into it. |

Abandonedby bmartuchComment: Overboard worked well on this. I see a little of that tell-tale halo effect. I get it with PSP's clarify as well. Maybe during the actual SC we can figure some way to minimize that. |
