I suspect you may be getting some comments of "distracting elements" regarding the background. However, this is clearly street photography and such things are outside the control of the photographer. You did the best possible with that aspect, and captured a unique moment that looks slightly out of place on a busy city street.

Cute, though it comes off as just a snapshot. A bit more editing may have been able to bring out some more details of the raccoon from the shadows. Some clarify or a modest touch of Topaz adjust, for instance.

As usual, abstract photography is not highly appreciated by the average DPC voter. I can tell from the voting breakdown, that it had very strong appeal for quite a few people, however. A success in my book.

BTW, your comment in your notes is correct. You may have other entries that you feel are just as good as your best (I know that I do), but this is the one that had appeal for the most people. Simple and impactful gets the high averages.
