Wonderful contemporary, almost -urbane- feel due to this gloriously simple capture and, certainly, Italian in manner and composition. :-)

The position of the two strollers under the umbrella is boldly unconventional but sensible in terms of the given tonal balance. One of the most exciting photos I've seen for a while.

Lovely capture. Wonderful diminishing perspective. It is a delightfully joyous solitude. The fact, that the girl appears subordinated to its vast environment is especially poignant! I have nothing to add.

Comment:
Very traditional image likely appealing to a broad spectrum of viewers, technically accomplished and sensitively executed.

Critical notes: Such a warm and -soft- rendition would, IMHO, benefit from a complete absence of any decor. I'd prefer a hairline border, white or black or none or at all. The hue-matched line, I feel, softens an already soft image.

The tilt of the vase is weighted heavily by the spatial extension of the single grass across the width of the photo. For a more pedantically balanced composition, I feel, that a slight counter-clockwise rotation would be something I'd consider.

Gorgeous, crisp macro.

The tonal quality of the background blur is very complimentary to the subject. I would love to see the sun (? -orange glow in lower third) a little less obscured to add another unobtrusive anchor to suggest depth beyond the foreground and to jazz the composition a bit.

To the naked eye, the fog was much thicker than what you see here. The lens on my camera seems to cut haze and fog drastically. Hairline adjustments, at most, were made to contrast/brightness.

Most of my attention went into balancing the image as precisely as possible to match my sense of it. I wanted to emphasize the mirror-like symmetry without dead-centering the (obscured) shore-line and compensate for the additional weight of the darker hues in the reflected, lower section.

Because of the mild tonality of the image and the varying monitor calibrations given in this environment, I hardly expected the warm and enthusiastic reception the image has received. Thank you all for your interest in this photo and so many sincere comments.

Textures, hues, lighting are so good, the image could pass for a -Beguin-. -Superb.

My only choice for blue ribbon.

Lol, fantastic, surreal!

The photo, however, mainly because of the (incidentally indifferent) lighting and the parsimonious crop, feels like a snapshot. I'd seriously consider retaking it under more controlled conditions to achieve what could be Duchamp...

Frankly, this -very- tight crop and the soft focus for this image, apparently taken at or around midday, do not appeal to me at all.

The delicious irony, however, of both subject choice and title are not entirely lost on me. The house, too, is one I'd love to populate. I do hope a poet lives in it. ;-)

An interesting capture of a slightly uneven symmetry. Good use of available lighting, would, IMO, benefit from a more meticulous crop and somewhat crisper focus.

The title, too, is not quite correct, since engineering relates the use and control of power [phys.], which does not appear to be the subject here. Architecture, I believe, would be a better choice.
