Remarks: I appreciate this entry for its journalistic integrity. Neither the photographer nor camera or post-process appear to interfere with the essence focused on here. I tried to reflect this in the value of my final vote. |

Communication Breakdown by spencerwoodComment: Irresistible surreality in a charming setting, well photographed and presented (and leaving little more to comment on)... :-) |

Houses Of The Holy by pawdrixComment: Surreal plethora of plied confusions, well seen and ordered. The added contrast only makes it infectiously humourous to rummage for a single elusive subject. |

Remarks: although manner and treatment are entirely consistent with a photojournalistic approach (emphasizing an event), the subject's focus and expression reveal an intensity that go beyond the event and suggest a portrait.
What we have here (IMO) is a shot that stands between these genres, poignantly reminiscent of the turmoil it evokes. This is a remarkably provoking photograph, a great find and realized opportunity, I awarded it an 8, instead off rounding the stats (above), as I usually do. |

windows to the souleby faggleComment: This is one hell of a shot/model/posture/composition/manner. The impromptu litter and cabling in the foreground adds some surreality to the glamour. The Chaucerian spelling of 'soule' doesn't do any harm either. The classic manner, however, appears somewhat impaired by over-sharpening, at least to my trained eye. :-) Message edited by author 2008-02-29 12:26:36. |

Remarks: the central composition invites the devil into the symmetry, doesn't it? Wonderful surreality, tastefully subdued tones and backdrop. My favourite entry in this challenge. |
