Sunset on Autumn, Winter on the Way!by DougPazComment: Greetings from the Critique Club :) Doug, I think this is definitely a beautiful sunset photo. I definitely like the placement of your horizon low in the frame... the sky is the subject here and seeing more of that is important. As I look at the image, I think the tree could be a little sharper silhouette. F3.4 is possibly a little larger aperture than necessary for this shot. I would have started this one at F5.6 in aperture priority mode and bracketed with extra exposures one stop up and down from there. I believe that a smaller aperture would have sharpened up the tree against the background quite a bit. Metering for a photograph like this is very difficult.... The key is to take a lot of photos at different settings and do it in a hurry. Sunsets like these are constantly changing and they don't last long. As for this photo and the photojournalism challenge, I'm not sure. I haven't read all the comments you received, but IMO, this is photojournalism, but not as much for news as it is for weather. The term 'photojournalism' usually strikes a sense of 'news' and 'action' in my mind. I have browsed many books of 'photojournalism' such as the Time/Life photo books and National Geographic as well. Your photo fits better into the national geographic schema than into time/life stuff. John Setzler |

Living On Faith by ShiiizzzamComment: excellent portrait :) I love the 'tilt' of the head in this shot... the safety pins in her scarf really make this photo for me... great shot :) - 10 - setzler |

Flowerby Title9Comment: The image quality on this shot is suffering terribly from pixellation... not sure what happened here, but it needs some serious help... I also do not understand what is 'journalistic' about this photo. The photo is not telling me a story... - setzler |

First Contactby PifflefishComment: I think the lack of focus adds something interesting to the mystery of this shot... good work :) - setzler |

Thanksgiving is his favorite holiday too!by RefocusedComment: This is a very interesting shot :) I like the high key approach and the cow has a unique appearance with the white band around it. The post processing here has created a strange 'blue' tint on the underside of the cow that looks slightly strange... I think that a b/w conversion on this particular shot may be an overall improvement... good shot :) - Please help us enhance this site that we all enjoy by commenting on photos each week. The photographers really appreciate it :) - setzler |

Aflameby n_ravikiranComment: this shot is out of focus and there appears to be a screen or something in front of the photo... the criss-cross patterns look very odd here... - setzler |
