Hi DogAngel...

I think your pose and subject here are right on target for a jewelry advertisement photograph. Your post processing seems to work OK but the 'environment' may not be the best choice overall. I believe your model's arm and the watch would stand out more if she was wearing a darker colored shirt. The blue cast you were describing probably is a result of sunlight (or diffused sunlight) on her shirt. The background in this photo is also an element that may require some attention. I believe the green grass would make a good background itself, but the contrast between the brick and the grass may be considered distracting in some cases...

Hi aKiwi...

The lighting on this photo is excellent, but the depth of field is a bit too shallow IMO. I can't see any particular reason not to have everything here in sharp focus.

Hi Dkubin...

This photo meets the challenge and it will make a nice addition to your family album. Since you didn't leave any of your own thoughts on this photo, I can't really offer you much. It looks like a simple snapshot with a flash that has been converted to black and white. It has a nice 'cute' factor, but doesn't transcend that level into a competitive photo.

Hi Lastef...

This is an interesting composition, but it also seems to be one that needs some sort of context other than what is provided to make it more interesting. When photographing people for a challenge, (or for anything in fact) you need to create something that helps a third-party viewer identify with your subject in some way. You need to make me interested in who I see. As far as your post processing is concerned, if you achieved what you wanted, it's fine. The color hues here are a bit strange for me. The skin tones don't seem normal and there is a blue/green cast throughout the rest of the image, including his hair. There is nothing wrong with doing things this way, but they need to serve a visible and identifiable purpose when posting them for public review most likely.

Hi Heavy...

Between Montereykiddo's and Crabapple's comments, I don't think there is much more that I can add. This is an example of where 'meeting the challenge' simply isn't enough. This photo doesn't go beyond that for me. There is nothing intriguing about the image. There is nothing that makes me think about what I'm looking at. You also didn't offer any of your own insight as to why you entered this photograph. I can simply assume that you entered it because you like to enter challenges moreso than thinking that it's a really great image. What is it about this image that YOU think makes it contest worthy? In the future, I would suggest that you include your own thoughts on the image when you post it, especially if you are asking someone for an in-depth critique. I can't offer you much more than this without knowing what your actual intention is. My suggestion for future challenges is that you enter something that goes beyond simply meeting the challenge. If you already know that meeting the challenge is all you plan to do, don't waste someone else's time by asking for an in-depth critique on it :)

Hi Artan...

I think this is a very peaceful image. I read through your comments and it seems that the collective 'voter' thinks you didn't really meet the challenge, which is unfortunate. There are several comments about the size of the 'people' and the people not being the main focus of your image. I disagree with both. The people are the subject of this photo, and no matter how large or small they are in the image, the photo simply wouldn't exist without them. In the context of a challenge, the average voter seems to have preconceived notions about what they want to see, which is normal. Everyone likes to talk about getting outside the 'box', but when we do so, our scores normally suffer for it. Creative thinking an a challenge mode is a good thing, but you have to do it while beating the voter over the head with the topic, so it isn't so easy in most cases. I wouldn't chage much about this particular photo. Nice work :)

I have been reserving comment on this photo all week. I haven't been able to come up with the words I want to use to describe what I see here. First of all, this is an excellent image. It screams of the innocence of childhood. The theme of 'boldy going' seems to indicate a small child in a large world... exploring.... The composition of this photo feels a little cramped, which somewhat contraditcs that theme possibly... just some food for thought...

This photo has a nice mood to it. I also think the centered subject works nicely in this composition because of the mutiple leading lines. Excellent shot...

Lovely portrait. The black and white works nicely as does the cath lighting in the eyes. The diagonal composiiojn here also adds a nice viewing experience... excellent work.
