Whiskedby FreebieComment: nice still life... the egg theme is strong here even though the eggs are not the strongest visual elements of the image... nice work :) - setzler |

Crossdresser ?by LanceComment: interesing use of 'simplicity'... I think a little tighter crop and a more diagonal composition would work well also... - setzler |

Strange breakfastby deadbirdComment: interesting shot... the eggs stand out nicely, but the spatula seems to be getting lost in the dark background. The cigarette butt isn't really supporting the image either :) - setzler |

Laurie's EGGshellsby RonSBComment: interesting work... compositionally, I would have probably moved the egg more off center to the left or right... - setzler |

Yummyby marboComment: This is a very nice shot. The composition works well and the strong diagonal is also quite appealing. I think you made a wise choice to use a border on this photo to help separate it from the gray background on dpc, but I think a darker color choice would have been nicer also... good shot :) - setzler |

Dire Straitsby jimmythefishComment: Greetings from the Critique Club :)
Hi Jimmy...
This is an excellent photo... I'm not sure why it didn't score better than it did. I may be one of a minority who really enjoys nice black and white images like this one. Reading through the comments you received, it seems that several people interpret this challenge in such a way that they feel the human element is a requirement. I find it unfortunate that viewers don't allow their mind to open up to different interpretations. I agree that some of the shots in this challenge where the human element was represented are quite strong, but it's not a reason to abandon alternative interpretations.
I like the dark sky in this shot... that seems to enhance the sense of despair for me. The overall exposure is pretty good also. The sunlight is on the boat in such a way that it makes it stand out prominently in the scene.
This photo is definitely printworthy. I hope you decide to make this one available for print on dpc in the near future :)
Keep up the good work :)
John Setzler
