Is this the bad luck door (13 is not considered good luck in the U.S.)? Great out of the camera shot. I'd like to see more of this level of shooting in dpchallenge.

I love the colors of these butterflies, so B&W wouldn't be my favorite for this. How did you get him to sit still for the picture? The butterfly I shot for Bokeh - Butterfly Breakfast was very active and not very cooperative in spreading his/her wings. Placement of the leaf behind its head is unfortunate - makes the butterfly blend into the background in that area. I have great respect for those who can shoot living, active creatures and get a good shot - which this definitely is.

Great detail here. I agree that the bottom left is distracting, but on the other hand, you wouldn't want to lose the detail of the hair.

Don't believe in challenges, do you - like shooting with a river reflecting full sun as your background (and not wanting a silhouette)? The people are a shade dark, but that isn't fixable without blowing out the background. I'm not particularly fond of the boy's expression - almost looks vampirish! (I'm sure he's a nice kid...)

Excellent expression, and love that she's looking directly into the camera. She is very engaging and friendly. I think the bright light on her nose and chin detract from the shot. I'd suggest you try a crop of this that bisects the wooden post (no further to the left than the left edge of the top ridge) and removes about 1/2 of the black above her head. The wood grain in the post is wonderful, but the shot doesn't need the whole post - just part of it. As it is, the post detracts because it is a strong image and does not appear to be quite straight.

On mine too. It isn't clear if the light is coming through the pipe, or simply light shining on the side of the pipe.

Day 13: The Old Fence

I'm not a fan of OOF foregrounds. I love the idea of the tree growing around the barb wire, and like the bark texture.
