Light and Shadowby dtremainComment: Originally posted by mitalapo: a puzzle of projections, which I haven't solved, at least not at first look. |
Shadows from glass topped coffee table lit primarily by skylight. Beveled edge on glass, magazine, and leg form the major elements. |

Light and Shadowby dtremainComment: Originally posted by PennyStreet: I like this. 7 from me as you did a good job with the subject and composition. I'd love to see this in a pure monochrome version, as well. |
Pure monochrome lost the rainbow, so I went with this. |

Reflective Paintby dtremainComment: Originally posted by streetpigeon: In your face, as those of great wealth often are, yet lovingly detailed with a tracery of trees. I like the juxtaposition and the crispness of lines and details. Classy, aside from being a Royce. |
The car is an early 1930's Auburn 851. Not quite as exclusive as a Royce, but still quite a bit higher status than a "poor man's car". This was shot at Eckert Park in Auburn, Indiana at the 2017 Auburn Cord Duesenberg festival. ACD ceased producing cars in 1937, so this car is at least 80 years old.

Read my Lipsby mluComment: Wow! That's a pretty neat effect, especially in minimal editing.
I really like the arrangement, and the texture of the background.
It seems to me that the bar codes visible on a couple of the items are REALLY distracting and take away the impact of the image. |

composedby mitalapoComment: I think what hurt this shot score-wise is that people generally don't like to see people out of focus. The sleeve is a nice bright red and in good focus.
As I look at it, I think the composition works against it as well. It almost feels to me that it would work better if it was composed with right right side of the frame at the back of his head, and with more space in front of him - kind-of giving a space to "move" into... if that makes any sense. |

Orchis Orchids Everywhere - Kew Gardens, Londonby TeddyBareComment: Phooey on the naysayers! This is a nice shot, and - at least to my eye - definitely pink.
To my eye, what hurts this shot is a disconnect between the lighting and the main feature. For me, the main feature is the flower on the left (Western culture bias - reading left to right, plus it is closer and larger than the one on the right - both are directly facing the camera - the other pink blooms between are at an angle). However, the flower on the right is in full light, but the one on the left seems to be a bit of a shadow.
I don't find the pipe all that distracting, but I agree that it would be an improvement to crop off the clamp on the left (not all Minimal editing challenges allow cropping, but this one did).
