Lovely composition, I like this abstract angle a lot. However, seems the attention is on the linen rather than the glass because it is what is most in focus, not the rim of the glass.

how utterly phallic. ;) Wonderful contrast. Would be even more effective if the glass were a shade more in focus, I don't see anything added by it being such a soft focus when the lines are what is most interesting about the shot!

Hello from the Critique Club, Carolee!

Ok, I'm going to try my hand at offering some praise for a good capture, and some critical comments to help you along in your photography!

Composition, colour and contrast:

Like many of the commentors, I think this is a great capture, with good colours on the helicopter, but its so small in comparison to the landscape, that it almost gets lost. I take your point that the mist is interesting, but whatever its impacted, its overshadowed by the vastness around the helicopter. I think a crop of most of what is above the helicopter and maybe even a bit of the green trees below would vastly improve your composition and also pick up on the contrasting colours, as you mentioned. :)

Speaking of contrast, I think a little action in post processing to take that slight white cast off everything(which might just be a brightness/contrast issue anyway) and boost the contrast might have helped as well.

focus and lighting:

The focus seems to be on the helicopter, where it ought to be, and there are no harsh shadows, so I'd say it came around at the right time of day for you! :)

overall:

I think you caught a very interesting and action filled picture, and with a few adjustments to the colours and a nice crop, you've got something great! :)

neat idea, but it seems to need a bit more light to really pull it off. There is no sparkle to your crystal.

I like the high key portions of this picture. You wouldn't expect such a thing with the dark lines and shadows here, but the two elements work well together.

its grainy, which isn't always a bad thing, but I don't think the retention of the grain adds anything significant to the picture.

its a bit too dark, without enough contrast between the object and the background to make it really stand out.

tiny rotation to the right, and just a little closer, and you'd really have it! :)
