C1 Eclipseby sunflowerComment: great angle on the plane. looks like you captured the wing or something there at the bottom left -- its a bit distracting to me.. if you cropped it out I don't think it would have affected your composition significantly. :) |

By airby bcncrazyComment: Our eyes would be drawn more to the gondola if there was a little less sky in the shot? A crop of the top bit of the shot could easily remedy the picture and bring that bright little gondola along a third. :) |

Diligenceby zeuszenComment: reminds me of stanley park in vancouver. :) Seems a tad oversharp, but I like the angle you have on the carriage where its more in the background and we are drawn (no pun intended!) to the horses. I might have cropped out a bit more of the left of the shot to get our horses over a bit in the frame..but I'm not sure if that is actually a better crop than what you have! :) |

Lucky Flightby Ricky CleaveComment: As I am sure I among the last commentators, I won't belabour that i think this shot is too far from the subject and its very grainy without any artistic reason I can think of, and its out of focus. That said, I do like the capture of the rainbow and think you had a great idea here! :) |

MANS LAST RIDEby draney4Comment: This is rather morbid (which can be effective in its "shock" value),but I'm afraid this doesn't meet the challenge, and is additionally a bit dark and out of focus with washed out colours. Try using software to saturate the colours and play with the brightness and contrast perhaps? :) |

"A New Contraption"by sfarrell23Comment: great subject! :) I would have preferred to see more of the car in the shot, as well, the lighting (which must be its display lighting or that in combination with your flash) is making the shot look a bit flat, but I'm afraid I don't have any practical suggestions on how to improve that.
As a pure asthetic preference: would it have been possible to get a sideview of the car instead? |

Basis of Transportby paully2k1Comment: I love the idea you had here, the negative space is very artistic, but I would have balanced it out so the wheel made up one quarter of the whole shot. The biggest problem here is that the wheel is very pixely and out of focus, which makes me think you probably had to do a lot of cropping and interpolating to get this shot up to the size you wanted for submission. There is a great tutorial on the site on how to sample up that might help in that regard! :) |

Driving Miss Frostyby basia03Comment: Shadows are harsh, and this has the feel of more of a snapshot than a picture whose composition was carefully thought out -- I say this because of the harsh light and blown out highlights on the bike helmet combined with the shadows on the face. Cute puppy thought! :) |

When cars just can't compete...by pncowleyComment: fabulous action shot, I love the motion blur, I feel dizzy just looking at the background. :) Wish more of the lasso and horse's tail were in the shot, but those are nitpicks! I am curious how many voters will have said "this isn't transportation, its a rodeo!" A horse is a horse (though).. of course... (sorry, couldn't resist!) |

shooting down swirling rapidsby kenboComment: What a bird's eye view! You've included too much background in this shot, (IMO) and the little boat gets lost as our eyes are draw to the mountains and the line where the water meets the shore. A tighter crop that placed your subject somewhere that conformed with the rule of thirds might have yielded a more effective photograph for you! :) (just my two cents, I claim no special knowledge!) |
